Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
An upper endoscopy (EGD) is a procedure that examines the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It's used to find the cause of symptoms such as trouble swallowing, stomach pain, vomiting, or others discussed in this video. A physician will determine if you need an EGD after meeting with you and performing a physical examination.
During the procedure, you are sedated. The doctor will insert a small, flexible tube through your mouth and into the upper GI tract. He or she will then examine your upper GI tract with a small camera. He or she may also take tissue samples called a biopsy to be sent to the lab for testing. Watch the video to learn more about this procedure.
Better Care. Better Advice.
Better Than Typical Doctors.
ENDOSCOPIC RETROGRADE CHOLANGIOPANCREATOGRAPHY
(ERCP)
If you experience pain, jaundice, or unexplained weight loss, your healthcare provider may like to schedule an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or ERCP. An ERCP looks at the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder in order to find the cause of the above symptoms.
During the procedure, a tube with a small camera and light attached is inserted through your mouth and down through your stomach. Then a smaller tube is thread through, and the doctor examines or may take samples from bile ducts that feed into your small intestine. Watch the video to learn more.

FLEXIBLE SIGMOIDOSCOPY
A flexible sigmoidoscopy is a procedure in which a physician examines the lower part of the colon, known as the sigmoid colon, and the rectum. It is used to find the cause of symptoms such as a sudden change in bowel movement, blood in the stool, or others discussed in this video.
You are awake during the procedure, but if you have concerns you may ask your physician about sedation. A tube is inserted through the rectum and sigmoid colon. The doctor uses a camera in the tube to look for growths, called polyps. He or she may take a tissue sample to be sent to the lab for further testing. Watch the video to learn more.
